Using DataVestigo to extract data from CVs

Are you an HR professional struggling with a large number of CVs and need to find the right candidate quickly? This can be especially challenging if you have dozens to hundreds of resumes in formats like PDF, DOC, or even as scanned images to analyze. This process can be lengthy and complicated, especially if you’re doing it manually. Fortunately, there is a solution that will make this task much easier - the DataVestigo app.

How can DataVestigo help you?

DataVestigo is an application that automatically extracts all the necessary data from candidates’ CVs into a clearly formatted form, for example, an Excel spreadsheet. This allows you to easily compare the qualifications, experience and skills of each candidate without having to go through each document individually. You’ll have all the information nicely organized in one file, which will greatly simplify and speed up your decision-making process.

Specific example of use

Imagine you are looking for a candidate for a software developer position. You need to extract the following information from each resume:

  • Name and contact details
  • Number of years of programming experience
  • Knowledge of specific programming languages (e.g. Python, Java)
  • Experience with tools and technologies (e.g. Git, Docker)

Upload all relevant resumes to the application and within minutes you have all the necessary data organized in an Excel spreadsheet. This spreadsheet will allow you to easily filter and rank candidates by their qualifications, making the entire selection process much faster and easier.

How does the extraction process work with DataVestigo?

  1. Defining the required data: First, you describe in plain language what data DataVestigo should extract from the CVs (see screenshot).
  2. Data Source: You select the data source from which the application will draw. This can be the web address where the resumes are hosted, or files stored on your local computer that you upload to the application. Depending on the type of source, you will select the appropriate loader.
  3. Setting up the process: In this step, you set up which AI model you want to use for the project. Then you run the program using the button at the bottom of the screen (see screenshot) and within a few seconds you will receive the result.
  4. Downloading the output: Once the program has gone through and analyzed all the resumes you have entered, the message “Job Done” will appear in DataVestigo. You can then download the results in Excel or JSON format. Other formats are available upon personal consultation.

Advantages over conventional tools:

  • Lower costs
  • Easy and intuitive to use.
  • Suitable for processing large amounts of data and documents
  • Definition of tasks in common language without programming
  • Faster data retrieval than manual transcription and copying
  • Ability to understand text and context allows for additional tasks such as classification according to parameters you define
